Kilt Twins Become Geek Mag Coverboys

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This isn't a joke, either. They entered their picture in a contest with Wired magazine and won! Congratulations, Brian and Micah!! The now legendary kilts are part of a funny story involving the abominable FAA Imposed Work Rules, the dress code, loopholes, and outright defiance.

And now by appearing on a limited circulation version of this month's Wired cover, they have etched their place in the annals of geekdom. ;-)

Toledo-based 180th FW F-16 Down in Iraq; Pilot Killed

It's a very tragic piece of news for everyone, especially for those of us who work with the Air Guard on a daily basis. Word is that the crash was an accident - indeed it is highly unlikely that the aircraft would have been brought down by enemy or friendly fire. Although the F-16 does have a pretty good safety record, it is definitely not uncommon for them to have "issues" that require emergency handling. So from that standpoint, it's not a surprise that an aircraft was lost; it is just so incredibly sad that the pilot was lost as well.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the 180th servicemen/women and their families - for a safe remainder of their deployment and a safe return home.

A Break in the Storm Cycle

Due to illness. I'm not sure when I'll be back to "the gym", hopefully by this weekend. I've got a nasty little cold that I'm trying to keep from becoming a nasty big cold, so it's a lot of tea and water and a lot of sleep for me right now.

It's not keeping me from work, though. The FAA is gonna see my smiling, coughing, sneezing, hacking, snot-nosed face every day this week (unless I get sick to my stomach -- I draw the line there), lest I get a sick leave abuse letter from them, which would require me to get a doctor's note for future sick leave use. Since I generally don't go to doctors anymore unless my life is in danger, getting such a letter would make life miserable.
