Rare Good News for Toledo Express
It was just announced a few days ago that American Eagle, the regional connector wing of American Airlines, will introduce non-stop service between Toledo and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (KDFW) beginning June 9. The service will consist of one flight each direction 7 days a week. EGF883 will depart DFW mid morning and will arrive early afternoon in Toledo. EGF882 will leave TOL for DFW about a half-hour later. This is a rare success for the Port Authority, which has lost several airlines over the past year or so, and has in the past failed to add the Eagle flight to DFW and a Delta Connection flight to JFK. Reportedly, the PA is trying once again to add the JFK flight this year.
Also, Northwest Airlink has once again returned jet service to Detroit. To me this really makes no sense, since the inbound flight only climbs to 4000' and the outbound only to 6000'. But I guess that "jet service" is a selling point to airline passengers, so I guess if it gets more people to fly with them it's okay. At least they can go direct to MIZAR instead of requiring radar vectors like the props do.
