Radio Shuffle - Part 1
Recently I've begun a restructuring of my radio collection. Pictured above is my new used (if that's possible?) Grundig Satellit 700 shortwave radio (upright, on the left), sitting next to my Sony ICF-SW77 shortwave that I've had for almost 7 years (reclined, on the right). I bought the Grundig off eBay last month, and while it's old (built sometime between 1992 and 1996), it remains the finest portable shortwave in existence. With just it's telescopic whip I can get stations that don't break through the static on the Sony even when I have a longwire clipped to the Sony's aerial. Also, with the memory chips I bought last week, the Grundig has 2048 memories, compared to the Sony's 162.
The wait is on for me to get some sort of antenna system installed in the attic, so I can then return my Drake R8 tabletop to my desk (the Drake requires an outboard antenna). Also, the Sony's for sale. I'll probably put it up on eBay in a week or so.
My scanners aren't immune from the shuffle, either. Look for Part 2 sometime this afternoon or evening. ;-)
